UPDATE:  1/29/2010

The Tactical Reconnaissance Unit, also known as the “[TRU] Clan” began in Northeast Ohio in 2002.  Original members were a group of friends in the Greater Cleveland area that began actively recruiting on their Battlefield 1942 server provided by VSK Gaming Servers (whom were later purchased by Art of War Central/AOWC).

As the server popularity grew, a majority of the clan decided to solicit donations from the public to fund the Battlefield server.  As the clan’s popularity grew, so did the ranks and available funding.  New members were recruited from all over the USA, as well as several members from Canada and England.  As Battlefield 1942 branched out into different mods, so did [TRU].

Some of the mods played included Desert Combat, Desert Combat Final, Forgotten Hope, Forgotten Honor, Action Battlefield, Eve of Destruction, Pirates, 1918, and Battlegroup 1942. With server prices going down, [TRU] was able to fund a Call of Duty 4 (COD4) server which became immediately popular with most of our members. All variations of the games were played, but [TRU] focused on Hardcore Mode “Team Deathmatch” and “Free-for-All”.

While the years have worn on, a strong core of roughly a dozen members have stayed for the long haul and are looking to recruit honorable, and respectful new members.  We do not judge on playing ability, but more on the interaction with the rest of the clan and following server rules. By administrating three servers (COD4/COD WaW/BF DC), [TRU] clan admins are able to use remote managers to set map rotations, game/map mods, style of gameplay, as well as kick and/or ban unruly or disrespectful players.

COD Rules are prominently displayed and scroll on each of the servers, and can also be found on this page under “Rules of Conduct”. Basically, it comes down to four simple steps:

1. No Bunny-hopping

2. No Martyrdom

3. No Last Stand

4. Use common sense (No team-killing, disrupting game-play, spam chatting, etc).

As of January 27, 2010, our Modded Battlefield server is back up and running.  Several [TRU] members missed playing Battlefield so much that they acquired a server for at least another year.  Join us at 75.102.38.104 and help us keep Battlefield/Desert Combat alive!  Our server is located in Chicago, IL, so most players in the U.S. should have a good ping into the server.  Come in and experience the great mods that [TRU] Torch-1 has created to enhance the DC experience.  Download our custom map packs in the public downloads part of the forums, so you can join us when we play these custom maps.

Battlefield Rules are prominently displayed and scroll on the server:

1. NO Attacking enemy mains unless being attacked from one.

2. You may kill your attacker in the main but you must leave afterward

3. NO Deliberate TK'ing = Kick/Ban

So please, enjoy playing on our three servers, and feel free to register on the forums to sign up for membership or simply communicate with us in one of our many threads! Current master admins are as follows:

[TRU]MPWARDAWG, [TRU]PrinceJ, [TRU]Torch-1, [TRU]mbm

Clan News and Events

We are having game nights every Thursday starting at 8:00 pm eastern. If you are up for it, hop in teamspeak and let the games begin...
We would like to determine the viability of getting a Battlefield 1942 Server. Unfortunately some of our members never donate to our servers. Although donating is not a mandatory thing, consider the following questions. If you go out to dinner or a movie or entertainment of any form, you spend money and enjoy a good time. Playing online games that are entertaining with people you know is great fun and enjoyable. Would you go out with your friends and make them pay your way all the time? If you did that you wouldn't have friends for long. So I ask? why would you let your clan mates pay for a server you enjoy most evenings? Is that not freeloading? letting others pay your way? Some donate once and go for years never giving unless asked. If everyone pitched in like other clans on an annual basis we could have a lot more servers than we currently have. While we do not ask for monthly membership fees or mandatory donations one should try to donate as often as possible. Even $10:00 a month = $120 a year and is a small price to pay for daily entertainment. If you go to an arcade to play a game you pay a minimum of 50 cents per game, you do the math. Think of the overall costs we pay for two gaming servers, web site and Team Speak it totals around $800 to $900 that only a limited few have donated to pay for. So I have put up these questions to help determine the loyalty and commitment of clan members and those in the public gaming arena. I appreciate your cooperation and honesty. Don’t be afraid to give us your name and thoughts in the forums. These questions are not designed to point out non paying people or to criticize anyone but to bring the subject of cost to the forefront of discussions and become a more viable clan.
We are currently recruiting players who like to play for fun, are 18 years or older, and a mature attitude. Our members currently play a vast array of online games like Modern Warfare, World at War, Battlefield 1942, Nascar Racing, and many others. We do not play in laddders, and rarly do any scrims. We play mainly for relaxation, and fun.

Donations Appreciated
